Emmanuel Jal is a South Sudanese-Canadian artist and former child soldier turned global peace advocate and musician. Born in the war-torn region of South Sudan, he was conscripted as a child soldier in the Sudanese People’s Liberation Army. Later, he managed to escape and ultimately found solace and purpose through music. Jal's inspiring journey from child soldier to acclaimed musician and activist is a story of resilience and hope. His music often addresses issues of peace, justice, and human rights. In addition to his musical career, Jal is a dedicated humanitarian, cofounding organizations aimed at helping children affected by war.
