Val McDermid

Val McDermid is a renowned Scottish author known for her captivating crime fiction and psychological thrillers. Born in 1955 in Kirkcaldy, Fife, she studied at St Hilda's College, Oxford, becoming the first student from a Scottish state school to attend. A former journalist, McDermid has penned over 30 novels, including the famous Tony Hill and Carol Jordan series, which was adapted into the television show, "Wire in the Blood." Her insightful storytelling and intricate plots have earned her numerous awards, including the Crime Writers' Association Cartier Diamond Dagger for lifetime achievement.
