Anne Moody (1940–2015) was a prominent American author and civil rights activist best known for her memoir, "Coming of Age in Mississippi." Born in rural Mississippi, she grew up in the heart of the segregated South, where she witnessed systemic racial discrimination and violence firsthand. Her book, published in 1968, chronicles her experiences from childhood through her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. Moody's powerful narrative brought attention to the struggles and triumphs of Black Americans and inspired a generation of activists. Beyond her writing, she dedicated her life to advocating for social justice and equality.
