Ian Williams is a Canadian poet, fiction writer, and physician. He won the 2019 Scotiabank Giller Prize for his novel "Reproduction," which explores intergenerational trauma and immigrant experience. Williams is also the author of "Disorientation," a collection of short stories, and several poetry collections including "The Bad Doctor" and "You've Changed." His work often examines themes of identity, race, medicine, and the complexities of contemporary urban life. Williams holds degrees in medicine and creative writing, and his dual expertise informs his unflinching yet compassionate literary voice. He teaches creative writing at the University of British Columbia.
