Ruth Park

Ruth Park was a renowned New Zealand-born Australian author celebrated for her vivid storytelling and rich portrayal of life in Australasia. Born in 1917, she moved to Australia in the 1940s, where she wrote for newspapers and radio. Her acclaimed novel, *The Harp in the South*, published in 1948, explores the struggles of a working-class family in Sydney's slums and cemented her reputation. Park's other notable works include *Poor Man's Orange* and the children's series *The Muddle-Headed Wombat*. Her writing, marked by empathy and humor, continues to resonate, offering insights into the human condition. Park passed away in 2010.
