Thomas J. Travisano is an American literary scholar and critic specializing in modern and contemporary poetry. He is Distinguished Professor of English at Hartwick College and serves as founding president of the Elizabeth Bishop Society. Travisano is best known for his critical works on Elizabeth Bishop, including *Elizabeth Bishop: Her Artistic Development* (1988) and *Love Unknown: The Life and Worlds of Elizabeth Bishop* (co-authored with Saskia Hamilton, 2006). His scholarship explores the intersection of biography, modernist poetics, and transatlantic literary culture. He has also written extensively on mid-century American poets and edited several collections of Bishop's work, establishing himself as a leading authority on her poetry and life.
