About

John Dos Passos (1896–1970) was an influential American novelist and artist who played a pivotal role in 20th-century literature. Known for his innovative narrative techniques, Dos Passos is best remembered for the U.S.A. trilogy: "The 42nd Parallel," "1919," and "The Big Money." These works intricately weave together the lives of fictional characters with historical figures, reflecting the social and political tumult of early 20th-century America. An acute observer of contemporary society, Dos Passos used his writing to critique capitalism and explore the American experience. A Harvard graduate and World War I ambulance driver, he left an indelible mark on literary modernism.
