Peter Sís

Peter Sís is an acclaimed author and illustrator, known for his intricate and captivating children's books that often draw on historical themes and personal experiences. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1949, Sís studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague and the Royal College of Art in London. His journey from Eastern Europe to the United States has deeply influenced his works, including the celebrated "The Wall: Growing Up Behind the Iron Curtain," which won the 2008 Caldecott Honor.
