Anton Harber

Anton Harber is a renowned South African journalist and author known for his influential work in media advocacy and journalism education. Born in 1958, he co-founded the Weekly Mail, an anti-apartheid newspaper crucial in shaping South Africa’s media landscape. Harber has penned several acclaimed books, including "The Giants of the Media Freedom Struggle," highlighting the role of press freedom in democracy. Serving as the Caxton Professor of Journalism at Wits University, he has mentored generations of journalists.
