Jack Schaefer

Jack Schaefer was an American author best known for his classic Western novels that captured the spirit of the American frontier. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1907, Schaefer worked as a journalist before turning to fiction. His debut novel, "Shane" (1949), became an iconic tale of the Old West and was adapted into a celebrated film. Schaefer's other notable works include "Monte Walsh" and "Old Ramon," both exploring themes of honor, loyalty, and the changing West with psychological depth and authentic detail. He wrote seventeen books during his career and passed away in 1991.
