Jeanette Winterson is an acclaimed British author, celebrated for her innovative narratives and exploration of gender and sexuality. Born in Manchester in 1959, she rose to prominence with her debut novel, "Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit," which won the Whitbread Award and was adapted into a BAFTA-winning BBC television drama. Winterson's works, including "The Passion," "Written on the Body," and "Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal?," blend magical realism with profound philosophical inquiries. Educated at Oxford, she is a professor of creative writing and an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, influential in contemporary literary circles.
