Dante Alighieri

About

Dante Alighieri was an Italian poet, writer, and philosopher born in Florence in 1265. Widely regarded as the "Father of the Italian language," he is best known for his epic poem "The Divine Comedy," an allegorical journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise. This masterpiece is a cornerstone of world literature and a profound exploration of themes such as sin, redemption, and the human condition. Besides his literary prowess, Dante was deeply engaged in the political turmoil of his time, which led to his exile from Florence. He spent his final years in Ravenna, passing away in 1321.
