Amanda Lindhout is a Canadian humanitarian, speaker, and bestselling author best known for her memoir "A House in the Sky." Born in 1981, Lindhout grew up in Alberta, Canada, and developed an early passion for traveling. She worked as a freelance reporter during her journeys, which took her to conflict zones around the world. In 2008, she was kidnapped in Somalia and held captive for 460 days, an experience she later detailed in her gripping memoir. Since her release, Lindhout has become an advocate for human rights and launched the Global Enrichment Foundation, supporting development and aid projects in Somalia.
