Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay (1899–1970) was a towering figure in Bengali literature, celebrated for seamlessly blending mystery, adventure, and historical fiction. He is best remembered as the creator of Byomkesh Bakshi, the iconic Bengali detective whose exploits captivated generations of readers. His landmark works include "সত্যান্বেষী", "ঝিন্দের বন্দী", and "পথের কাঁটা", each showcasing his masterful storytelling and vivid characterisation. Beyond detective fiction, Bandyopadhyay made significant contributions to Bengali cinema as a screenwriter. Born in Jaunpur, India, he spent much of his later life in Pune, leaving behind a rich and enduring literary legacy.
