Nemonte Nenquimo is a prominent Indigenous leader and environmental activist from the Ecuadorian Amazon. A member of the Waorani nation, she gained international recognition for her powerful advocacy in protecting Indigenous lands and rights. Nenquimo co-founded the Indigenous-led organization Ceibo Alliance, which focuses on land conservation and community empowerment. Her leadership played a pivotal role in the landmark 2019 legal victory that protected Waorani territory from oil extraction. In 2020, she was honored as one of TIME Magazine's 100 most influential people. Married with a young daughter, Nenquimo continues to inspire global efforts toward environmental justice and Indigenous sovereignty.
