H.P. Lovecraft was an American writer who revolutionized horror fiction through his creation of cosmic horror and the Cthulhu Mythos. Born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1890, he crafted tales of ancient alien gods and forbidden knowledge that continue to influence horror and science fiction. His most celebrated works include "The Call of Cthulhu," "At the Mountains of Madness," and "The Shadow over Innsmouth." Though he died in poverty in 1937, largely unknown during his lifetime, Lovecraft's literary legacy has grown immensely, establishing him as one of the most important horror writers of the twentieth century.
