Qiu Xiaolong

Qiu Xiaolong is an acclaimed Chinese-American author, renowned for his politically charged mystery novels set in modern Shanghai, most notably the Inspector Chen series. Born in Shanghai in 1953, he moved to the United States in 1988, earning a PhD in Comparative Literature at Washington University in St. Louis, where he later taught. Besides his detective fiction, Qiu is a prolific poet, translator, and critic, reflecting a nuanced understanding of both Eastern and Western cultures. His works, rich in cultural and social insights, have been translated into numerous languages, gaining a global readership and critical acclaim.
