About

Rafia Zakaria is a Pakistani-American writer, attorney, and political philosopher whose work examines the intersections of feminism, race, and colonialism. She is the author of "Against White Feminism," a groundbreaking critique of Western feminism's complicity in racism and imperialism, and "The Upstairs Wife," a memoir exploring polygamy and patriarchy. A contributing opinion writer for The Guardian and columnist for Dawn newspaper in Pakistan, Zakaria serves on the board of directors of Amnesty International USA. Her incisive commentary challenges mainstream feminist narratives and advocates for a more inclusive, globally conscious approach to gender justice. She holds a PhD in political philosophy from Indiana University.
