At Lincoln University on June 6, 1961, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. proposed his vision of a nation where equality, justice, and brotherhood prevail. Speaking of America’s founding ideals, Dr. King emphasized that the promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness must extend to all people, regardless of race, creed, or nationality. He challenged the nation to confront its paradoxes of slavery and segregation and to fulfill the noble dream of true equality for all.
