Two Caravans
A field of strawberries in Kent. Sitting in it are two caravans — one for the men and one for the women. The residents come from all over the world: Andriy is from Ukraine, Irina from Russia, the Poles Tomasz and Yola, two Chinese girls, and Emmanuel from Malawi. They're all here to pick strawberries in England's green and pleasant land.
But England's not so pleasant for immigrants. There are Russian gangster wannabes like Vulk, who has taken a shine to Irina and thinks kidnapping is a wooing strategy. So Andriy — who insists he doesn't fancy Irina — must set off in search of the girl he's not in love with.
Two Caravans is the hilarious and engaging second novel from bestselling author Marina Lewycka.
