Sandra Jackson-Opoku

Sandra Jackson-Opoku is an American author, poet, and educator celebrated for her rich storytelling rooted in African and African American heritage. She is best known for her debut novel "The River Where Blood Is Born", a sweeping saga tracing the lives of Black women across generations and continents, which earned her the Black Caucus of the American Library Association's Fiction Honor. A recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, including grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Jackson-Opoku has also contributed to anthologies and literary journals. She is a dedicated teacher, sharing her passion for writing with emerging voices.
