Georges Simenon (1903–1989) was a prolific Belgian writer celebrated for his crime novels and psychological thrillers. Best known for creating the fictional detective Jules Maigret, Simenon penned more than 75 Maigret novels and numerous short stories. Born in Liège, Belgium, Simenon published his first novel at 17 and eventually became renowned for his ability to vividly capture character psychology and setting. After moving to Paris in the 1920s, he gained international acclaim for his intuitive storytelling and profound understanding of human nature. Simenon's works have been translated into over 50 languages, solidifying his legacy as a master storyteller.
